These biodegradable  tasting spoons are made from corn starch, are fully biodegradable and compostable and meet the most stringent scientific requirements for biodegradability and compostability, and are ASTM D6400-99 certified for "compostable plastics".  They will biodegrade/compost within 6 months in a commercial compost facility and take approximately between 6-12 months to biodegrade/compost in a home composting system.

Please note, composting is required for biodegradation and these compostable tasting spoons will  biodegrade within 180 days in a commercial composting facility, and can take up to a year or more to biodegrade in a home composting system.  These biodegradable tasting spoons are only meant to be used for food at temperatures less than 110 degrees F.

Please note, that there is a difference between compostability and biodegradability as noted on our main bioplastics page.  Compostability in addition to bioderadation mandates no eco toxicity and more than 90% disintegration into pieces less than 2mm within 180 days.
